The photos I have taken i feel like fully incompass the nature of my father. He is a workaholic always working at night in the dark. He at times has a hard time kicking back and relaxing, however, there is a different side to him. The more comic one. Even though he is working on what looks a serious plan, he is wearing is pajamas, ignoring rules and conventions. My goal was to make photos mysterious yet very intimate, incorporating a little bit of a La Tour lighting into it.
It is hard to forget sometimes how small and irrelevant humans are on this planet. in this shot I purposefully made even leaves bigger than my subject, making a statement that even the most tiny parts of nature are at times more powerful that the human with egos bigger than cider trees. I have also created great contrast between the vibrant nature versus dark figure lost in the trees.
I live in the city. I was born in the city, grew up downtown. I love the city life. I live for the cars, the traffic, the crowds you can easily get lost in and the buildings lovingly towering over you. I feel the calmest in the city. I am at home on the streets. Downtown Vancouver is where I go to find myself or get lost. I know every street, every building. I love the city, I exists in the city. City is where I live.
